A Chicago couple is facing serious prison time for ending their 5-month-old daughter’s life so that they could have sεx. Rodrigo Rodriguez, 29, and Angela Petrov, 21, decided they wanted to be intimate in silence on Thursday night, so Rodriguez placed his hand over the couple’s crying 5-month-old baby’s mouth three times as Petrov watched. The baby lost consciousness and her parents threw her limp body into the playpen and proceeded to have sεx before falling asleep. At 7am the next morning, Petrov prepared her older child for school and went back to sleep without checking on the infant. It wasn’t until 11am when Rodriguez and Petrov attempted to wake the baby, but noticed her body was stiff and she was unresponsive . The couple performed CPR on the infant and threw water on her, but resorted to calling 911 when none of those tactics worked. The baby was taken to two local hospitals and eventually died. Medics said a lack of oxygen had made her brain swell. The baby also had a “blown pupil” and a skull fracture from a previous incident. The baby’s parents were arrested on Friday and charged with aggravated battery to a child. The couple’s other children are now being looked after by family members, said Illinois Department of Children and Family Services spokesman Dave Clarkin. Clarkin also revealed that the couple was already under investigation for other abuse allegations involving another child, which may be an indication that the system made to protect children is failing them significantly. Cook County Judge James Brown ordered both parents to be held in lieu of $5 million bail on Sunday. (source)
This is so sad on so many levels. They were already being investigated for previous charges yet the children were allowed to remain with these abusive people. The fact that it takes a child losing their life at the hands of these monsters is ridiculous. Something should have been done sooner. At least the baby is in the arms of the Lord where no one can hurt her anymore, but she shouldn’t have died this way. Lord help this world.
